Winter beckons, and we arrive at November, a wonderful month to embrace the crisp, invigorating air and explore the outdoors. The autumn foliage is still vibrant, offering a picturesque backdrop for walks. As you descend from the heights of the Sussex Downs to the coast, you come across Seaford, and there you’ll find Gallery UNO and our latest exhibition, UNO24 NINE: “Topaz & Citrine,” the two gems associated with November.

Chris will be showing for the first time, her new mini series of small paintings "Havens Deep". They are on lovely deep edged canvases which Iook so cute when hung. There will also be a selection of Chris' prints and greeting cards. The gallery is filled with beautiful work from other fine artists, craftspeople and designers working in Sussex.

Gallery 35 was founded by Shirley Jenner with the aim to create a warm and friendly environment of local, affordable, contemporary art.  They are a gallery and artists’ hub, focusing on bringing the creative community together with coffee mornings, artist talks, workshops and demonstrations.

 

There is a wonderful array of work in the gallery from paintings, prints, pottery and some beautiful jewellery. It is well worth a visit and you will be supporting local artists.

Chris is very excited to be taking part in Crowborough Art’s Open Studios this September. She will be showing a selection of her original paintings, prints and greeting cards.

 

Chris will be at Caroline Martin’s beautiful venue. Caroline is a wonderful artist who creates original multi layered abstract paintings, working on large canvasses and wood panels. Also at the venue will be ceramist Yolande Beer’s colourful pieces and large, unique slip scraffito pots.

The Open Studios has always been a showcase for Crowborough artists, both professional and amateur, but we have also had exhibitors from Mayfield, Rotherfield, Tunbridge Wells, Five Ashes, Heathfield, Hildenborough, Wadhurst and as far away as Brighton.

Chris Schneider is delighted that her painting "Exhale" has been chosen for this summer exhibition. The show features 18 artists and is being held in memory of fellow artist and friend Louise Gardner and to raise money for mental health charity Mind. You can expect to see a wide range of beautiful, inspiring and affordable artworks.

 

The theme and title was chosen in recognition of the work done at the Victoria Pavilion Support Centre, providing a haven for those in need of temporary respite, recovery, rest, change of scene or viewpoint. It also reflects their mission to promote and encourage individual and community well being and that of national charity Mind, in fighting to ensure that everyone needing support for their mental health can access that support.

 

Chris hopes you will come and see this beautiful and inspiring collection of works by Sussex artists. All donations and percentage of sales go to support charity Mind.

Samantha Butcher and Chris Schneider are excited to announce that they will be taking part in the South East Open Studios (SEOS) in June. They will both be opening up their homes in Buxted to display a range of paintings, jewellery, photography, stained glass and bespoke handbags.

The SEOS is one of the most established annual arts events in the UK. It is a 17-day event showcasing creative talent all over the South East. It takes place across Kent, East Sussex and the Surrey Borders, from Edenbridge to Ramsgate, Rochester to Hastings … and everywhere in between!

​

Samantha Butcher's venue is at Shouli Gate Cottage, Buxted TN22 4JW. Samantha will be showing her beautiful original acrylic paintings and cards. Joining her will be Patricia Buchanan who makes bespoke handbags in Harris Tweed and Julie Knight with her wonderful stained glass pieces.

​

Chris' venue is 5 doors up from Samantha's and is at Tarnhurst, Buxted TN22 4JW. Chris will be displaying a range of her original acrylic abstracted landscapes, abstracts and greeting cards. Joining Chris is Jan Beesley who creates wonderful expressionist photography and Jayne Luscombe who creates one-off pieces of jewellery from silver, enamel and gold. Chris will also be selling for charity, homemade cake and tea/coffee.

Both venues will be open from 11am - 5pm in June:

Fri 2nd - Sun 4th, Thur 8th - Sun 11th & Fri 16th - Sun 18th.

Also, around the corner at 85 Five Ash Down, TN22 3AP will be the talented Jo McGilvary with her beautiful watercolour paintings, prints and cards.

Biddenden Tractorfest is an annual event, now entering its 8th year. The essence of Tractorfest is the provision of a gentle summer day out in a country fair setting with nostalgic sights and sounds. Tractor rides, numerous arena displays such as dog shows, falconry, working horses, craft stalls, children’s entertainment, enticing local artisan food & drink and fantastic live music are just some of the attractions.
